ACRE

The Action Committee for Rural Electrification (ACRE) is the grassroots political action committee of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. ACRE represents the interests of the nation’s nearly 1,000 not-for-profit electric cooperative systems and their 41 million consumers in rural and urban areas of the country.

ACRE was organized to support federal candidates who will speak for and protect the interest of electric cooperatives and their consumers. ACRE is bipartisan and its contributions are based on a candidate’s record of support for rural electrification, not on his/her political affiliation.

The fiscal year for ACRE is January 1 to December 31. ACRE contributions are recognized and reported in the fiscal year the contribution is received. All ACRE contributions will be reported to the Federal Election Commission.

AK CARE

The Alaska Committee for the Advancement of Rural Electrification (CARE) was organized by Alaska’s electric cooperative leaders in 1985.

Every year, ACRE returns a percentage of contributions to states from which the donations were raised. In Alaska, ACRE refunds approximately 46 to 49% of your ACRE contribution to AK CARE. These national funds are combined with CARE donations to help support selected State Senate and House of Representatives candidates. CARE contributions are for candidates who support rural electrification efforts that benefit Alaska’s half-million electric consumers. CARE is  onpartisan and makes contributions on the basis of a candidate’s support for policies endorsed by the membership of Alaska Power Association.

The fiscal year for AK CARE is February 2 to February 1. Contributions are recognized and reported in the fiscal year the contribution is received. All AK CARE contributions will be reported to the Alaska Public Offices Commission. Your ACRE contribution refund portion will be reported in your name to APOC as a contribution to AK CARE.

Contributions to the NRECA Action Committee for Rural Electrification® (ACRE®) or to the Alaska Committee for the Advancement of Rural Electrification (AK CARE) are not tax deductible. Contributions to either PAC are voluntary and will be used for political purposes. You have the right to refuse to contribute without reprisal. Any contribution guidelines are merely suggestions. You are free to contribute more or less than the suggested amounts, or not at all. NRECA or APA will not favor or disadvantage anyone by reason of the amount contributed or a decision not to contribute. Thank you for your contribution!
